Classified as a remote and necessary school by the state, Beach Elementary is located on Lummi Island.
It is reached by boarding a ferry and crossing Hale Passage to Lummi Island. The building was built in 1920 and became a part of the Ferndale School District in 1941.

An additional 2,809 square feet were added to the building in 1978. Beach serves 30 students in grade kindergarten through five. The teaching staff at Beach School consists of two classroom teachers. Other staff include: a part-time principal, and part-time specialists including: psychologist, nurse and on-call communication disorder specialist.
The on-site support staff consists of a full time school manager/administrative assistant, a part-time custodian and three part-time para-educators for classroom/library assistance, lunchroom/playground supervision and Music/PE/Computers.
Beach School enjoys many hours of volunteerism each year from parents and community members. With our high adult to student ratios, Beach School students are academically well prepared for the transition to the mainland for middle school.
